A: There’s a Storm on the Horizon
A brainstorm. On advice about the ingenuity of multi person parties, and from admitted lack of understanding of many needs of organics, URSULA has selected you and a partner (or partners) to go to one of the observatories with food, beds, and recording devices to have a jam session for ideas about missions.
You are not to leave the room until you have some good ones. So get cracking! Start suggesting to one another what the base needs to do.
Or get horribly, horribly sidetracked and possibly a little crazy at being locked up together with the ocean staring at you. Judging.
B: The Abysmal Sea
You’re stranded.
One of the planet’s troublesome signal-interfering pulses has just made your communication devices 100% nonfunctional. No matter how you try to call URSULA for help, she isn’t able to respond. The database strapped to your wrist is just a useless chunk of metal now, leaving you without a useful library of knowledge to survive off. If you were driving any underwater vehicle prior to this point, it’s broken down. And unless you’re a mechanic, it’ll be pretty hard to get it jumpstarted again.
Don’t fret! The communication systems always come online eventually, so if you stay put, it’ll boot back up and give you directions straight back to base so you can finally get home. But can you really afford to stay put? The sunlight’s slowly streaming out of the sky, leaving the waters darker and darker with each passing second. Soon, you won’t be able to see five feet in front of you, and the only warning you’ll get of any approaching threat is through sound, if they even make any.
You have a few choices: take a daring risk and try swimming back to base, but on the off-chance you don’t remember the directions correctly from before you were cut off, you’re going to get even more lost, in the darkness of the night no less. Or, you could huddle in, with any friends if they were unfortunate enough to be with you, and start focusing on getting warm. Because spending the night out here in the vast oceans with the entire world against you is becoming a very, very real possibility.
C: Birdnip
The crew has become very friendly with the local population of birdogs, even going as far as moving a bunch of them to the base. Birdogs are pretty friendly creatures for the most part, and are some of the more tamable ones of the planet. That's why there is surely nothing that might go wrong with these arrangements!
Well. Except for the fact a new fauna that was found in a biome seems to have... well, really excite the birdogs. They're completely running amok, everyone from the kitchen to the swimming pool. URSULA would really appreciate it if you could help calm the poor creatures down before they end up hurting themselves or another crew member.
You probably shouldn't use that plant though.
D: Hunting Trip
The crew has been given a special mission on Mountain Island. While visiting, you were approached by Aurora survivor and fast-food worker Jenn, owner of the adorable tabby cat Glitter. She asks you to hunt a horrorsloth down for her. This particular horrorsloth has a scar across its face in the form of several cat marks which explains why Jenn wants it dead. It has a personal vendetta against Glitter and has already tried to kill her several times. Jenn has been able to heal the injuries so far but she’s worried that next time she won’t be so lucky.
So Jenn gives you anything you want from fellow survivor and Lead Programmer Naoko’s gun supplies and points you into the dangerous jungle forests where the Catkiller spends its time. Do you have what it takes to avoid poisonous tree pods and deadly Shrubbacks? Can you find your way through the dark and twisted woods? Or will you find yourselves hunted by the very creature you are trying to take out?
Do it for Glitter.
E: THE AURORA
Quiet except for the creaks and rumbles as the ship settles and shifts, the sound of Reapers screaming in the distance every so often, the Aurora is a creepy place to visit for a mission. The remains of those crew members not buried, and the belongings of many others, still litter the ship's halls. It might be nice to remove any skeletons you find.
Of course, their misfortune is your opportunity to catch up on some reading, browse whatever video games they left, get medical supplies and enjoy the comforts they no longer need.
But is it possible the Aurora is haunted? Surely not. Except sometimes you might hear voices from far away. It might just be the people you came on board with, unless they're with you. Or it might be a Cave Crawler knocking over some recording device. You're not too scared to check, right?
F: RAINY SEASON
When it rains, it pours. Rainy days tend to be the worst. Although you can go swimming in them, the intense storms of Iniidae stir up shallower waters making them murky and difficult to see through. And what if lightning hit? No one wants the first death to be lightning. Are you going to risk that? Probably. If you do, take care of yourself and bring a buddy!
But if you're the type to hole up in a storm, either by choice or because you were unlucky enough to be out in it, now is a good chance to get creative with your use of time! Maybe a game of charades will brighten up the rainy day? If you're on the base it might be extra crowded today so get to know your neighbors! If you're on an island, you could build a mud castle! Just don't go stircrazy.
izetta | izetta: the last witch
[ having the sub break down isn't something that izetta is too thrilled about. normally it wouldn't be anything to really worry about, except the area they're currently in doesn't have a lot of magical energy in it. thus, she can't really just use her powers to fly them out of this mess.
well, she can try if they have no other options, but it'll be such a drain on her that she will consider the other options first. such as, whoever the heck she is stuck here with. ]
Um, you wouldn't happen to know anything about submarines, would you?
e
[ so on the list of places you probably should not attempt to visit by yourself, the aurora is probably one of them? it's creepy and also there's reapers and there probably is a betting jar at the base on whether or not it's haunted tbh. but for whatever reason, you find yourself at the aurora by yourself! whether it's lack of better judgment or just a convenient plot device for this tdm thread, who even knows.
anyway, what we do know is that suddenly there is a very loud banging sound followed by a scream of a fifteen year old girl. if you follow the source of that scream, you will find said teenager on the ground, rubbing her forehead. there's also a rifle that's about as long as she is on the ground next to her. ]
O-ow... I scared myself...
b
being trapped with a stranger is pretty bad, but if he had to rank it, not as bad as having to swim back. so he... really hopes she isn't going to go that route... ]
Not really. What about you?

enkidu | fate/series
[Honestly, they're pretty curious about everything in the robotics section. Maybe they feel a special sort of kinship with these creatures. They're dolls made by man rather than by gods but they also possess some of the same properties. It's interesting. And likewise, they're interested in the humans' relationships to their creations, so they decide to ask the nearest person.]
Does this robot have a name? What is its purpose? Did you create it?
[F]
[Enkidu doesn't like this sort of day. They're sure they would be fine out there but they admit a certain dislike of the rain. It's just not their favourite weather okay?
But that aside, they're really bored. They could train all day but they're taking today off to try finding other uses for theirself since apparently 'a weapon' isn't a good enough tool here.
The kitchen seems like the best place to start. Enkidu stands there, head tilted, trying to think what to make. They would rather not waste food. So instead they ask the first person to come in.]

max caulfield | life is strange
[The question of whether she can put "human crash test dummy" into her resume someday is not very far from her mind right now. There's gotta be some bright side to this, right?]
And this is supposed to help how exactly?
e
[Voices. Yeah, okay. Voices. Strange sounds she just barely manages to catch. Yeah. No big deal. Just business as usual in the creepy abandoned ship. Nothing to worry about, nothing to worry about--
Shit, no, this place is totally haunted.
It's just like playing a video game, right? No big deal. Except whatever's out there can totally actually for real get her and her rewind power isn't even working right and what is making that sound?
Max turns wide eyes on whoever happens to be nearby, shaking her head.]

Miles Edgeworth | Ace Attorney
[Oh heck yes, this is his kind of storm. It doesn't take long for Edgeworth to get the party started, organizer and pen in hand. He glances at everyone in the observatory, not at all fazed by the idea of being stuck with these people for quite a while.
At least they had something to do which wasn't socializing. This isn't socializing, this is business!!!]
First, we need to know which of the areas are least explored and which creatures are least studied. From there, we can figure out what our next step should be.
[The ocean can judge all it wants, it never bothered Edgeworth anyway.]
OPTION B: I CAN'T B-LIEVE THIS
[Great.
The last thing Edgeworth wants is to be lost in this vast sea and honestly he's hoping so hard that an earthquake doesn't happen while he's here and alone. He's not going to stay put, although he's not quite going to swim back to base either just yet. Knowing that he's working against time and daylight, he begins inspecting anything and everything that would jog his memory - a rock formation here, a particularly large colony of plants there, anything.
He's also on the lookout for any familiar faces (as familiar as they can get behind a pair of goggles and breathing gear), although he might be a little too alert and be kinda jumpy because look, he doesn't want to die and with more reason does he NOT want to die out in the open sea.]
OPTION E: E FOR EERIE
[Edgeworth doesn't believe in ghosts or monsters. He's seen his share of dead bodies in his work as a prosecutor so long-dead bodies of people don't really faze him either. While browsing some of the books left in the common room, he hears someone - no, he hears distant voices. Blinking, he turns around and finds - you!
Because it was probably you who said something, right? Right? (No.)]
Excuse me, did you say anything?
[AND DON'T SAY THE AURORA IS HAUNTED you don't believe that mumbo jumbo, do you?]
OPTION F: RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY
[Edgeworth will be avoiding the crowd, thanks. Follow him into the library where he'll curl up with some books and just read the storm away.
a.k.a. wildcard option
a.k.a. make him do charades, you know you want to]
E FOR EUGH
Creatures echoing through the water or down the halls keep her on her toes, but her heart rate doesn't skip or speed up. She shuffles nearer, though, when the one she was assigned to explore the area with in their little humble party speaks up. Hip jutted out slightly when she shifts weight to that side of her body, she settles a hand on the curve her waist. ]
No, but it could be some kind of creature or just as likely a recording. This place is pretty big so we should just keep on a lookout. [ Jill turns from him, her hand slipping down to her side as she takes a few steps away and shines a light to the nearest doorways. ] Don't worry. Haunted or not, it's all tangible. Might put up more of a fight, but I can handle it.
[ Somehow, she gets the feeling that she'll be handling most of the fighting, if there's any. ]
Ready to get a move on? Any path's as good as another, so you take the pick.

Takeru Takaishi | Digimon Adventure tri
[Anything pleasantly nostalgic about traipsing through the woods for dubious reasons has thoroughly evaporated about five hours in, with Patamon hungry and drooping on Takeru's shoulder and daylight fading fast. He's about to suggest they give up and call it a day when there's a rustling sound up ahead--not from the elusive horrorsloth, but from a bunch of shroombacks ready to get revenge for the accidental invasion of their territory. Oops.
Instead of taking the opportunity to try and run away, Takeru's first response is to rummage through his bag for a snack to give Patamon the energy for at least a quick evolution. He's so accustomed to working with other Chosen Children that it doesn't occur to him that anyone else might see this as a serious lack of priorities.]
Think you can distract them for a minute?
► F.
[The good thing about being on a planet full of people with weird powers is that there's no need to go through the hassle of trying to keep Patamon a secret. The bad news for everyone else is that Patamon is free to roam around the base. Anyone trying to escape the rainy day boredom by cooking will find themselves with a little digimon fluttering annoyingly over their shoulder, asking questions about what they're making and generally flashing his best feed me, please eyes.
Luckily, it's not long before Takeru shows up to claim him.]
You could have just told me you were hungry, you know. [He sighs from the doorway and quickly moves to extract Patamon from anyone's personal space.]
Sorry about that.

Terezi Pyrope | Homestuck
[ughhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhHhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHHH
It's not that Terezi doesn't want to help out. It's not that she doesn't have any ideas to contribute. It's not even that URSULA has locked them in here with no escape in sight (H3H) until they've come up with several good missions.
It's the constant sidetracking.]
For the last time! [She slams her hands down on the table and rolls her eyes -- not that anyone can tell, but it's the thought that counts.] Crocs are not ugly! They are comfortable and delicious and it's not my fault if you are completely jealous of my podiatrist bliss, just stop taking it out on me! Crocs are super rad. Deal with it! Now can we please get back to work?
---
D
[If there's one thing Terezi's learned after years of friendship with Nepeta, it's that cat harassment is a serious crime. What kind of horrible animial would repeatedly target poor, dear, sweet, precious Glitter??? It's time to take this thing down.
Which is why Terezi is making her way through the interior of Mountain Island. She taps her her cane on the ground as she makes a show of stumbling through the jungle underbrush. She places a single, delicate wrist on her forehead and yells:]
OH NO! I AM BUT A POOR LITTLE BLIND GIRL LOST IN THESE TREACHEROUS WOODS! IT SURE WOULD BE TERRIBLE IF A MONSTER WITH A TASTE FOR CATS WERE TO ATTACK ME RIGHT NOW! WHATEVER WOULD I DO??
[It's not at all subtle or elegant, but Terezi really doesn't want to spend the next three weeks painstakingly flushing the horrorsloth out of the dense jungle. Better -- well, faster, at least -- to offer herself up as bait.]
Any sign of it yet? [she quietly asks her (significantly more well hidden) hunting partner. If/when the horrorsloth shows itself, it'll soon find she's not alone.]
no subject
[ the reply is through the mental-telepathic...whatever it is network. dave doesn't use it on the regular unless he's underwater, but stealth is a good case for using it and terezi is one of the people he doesn't mind getting some telepathic bleed through or whatever. it's not like she did not watch 13 years of his life, or anything.
god sburb was so weird ]
Maybe the thing is a good judge of character and realizes you will eat it alive?
[ the telepathic bleed through is mostly heavy amusement because the idea of terezi being a poor little blind girl who didn't know what to do is possibly the most absurd thing he has heard all year. or all decade. or all his life? ]

[ Listen this kid is the last person you would want to be stuck with in this scenario because he. Could care less about the state of the base or the planet, honestly. He just wants to go back to the ice rink so he can practice, and it shows in how pissed off he is that they're stuck here in this shitty observatory.
Yuri's sulking off in the corner somewhere before they can even begin, arms crossed as he leans his back against the wall. He pulls his hoodie over his head. ]
Got any bright ideas?
D: HUNTING TRIP
[ Find someone who looks at you the way Yuri Plisetsky looks at cats.
He's trying really hard not to crumble at the sight of Glitter, though he is notably distracted and misses around half of what Jenn's talking about. He really doesn't want anyone to see him being a woobie, so he stands behind whoever else is being tasked on the mission and probably dying from how adorable Glitter is. Except when he hears the bit about the horrorsloth attacking Glitter, Yuri feels his blood rising; and despite having no combat experience whatsoever, he now wants to kill the thing that's been tormenting this poor kitty.
Yuri folds his arms and looks at his partner in the mission, an angry scowl spread across his face. ]

Food, pillow, blanket, some kind of recorder annnnnnd his trusty copy of Con Air. Never leave home without it. Especially when leaving home was not part of the plan.]
Hello! I'm John. I know we're supposed to brainstorm ideas up here, but I thought we might break the ice with an excellent movie.
[He pulls it out from the inside of his pillow, a DVD copy of Nick Cage's best performance.]
B.
[Well, the power in the submersible is off. And normally that wouldn't be a problem except he can't get out and god-tier his way back home. Also, smacking it with his hammer just seems like a bad idea in general. Also inconsiderate. On top of that, it was getting colder and the water was getting darker. Luckily all of these shiny fish provided a bit of light.
Still...]

Honestly, this isn't even the worst thing that could be happening to him, so he's okay with it. He has no ideas, and he doesn't care to help anyone else think of any. He's instead decided to spend his time hacking into the thing on his wrist. Is there a way he can use it to open the doors and get the hell out of here? Probably not, but it's a better use of his time than any brainstorming might be.
B: THE ABYSMAL SEA
"Great. Fantastic." he says, voice dripping with sarcasm.
Of course this would happen now of all times. Stranded, no working tech, no land because this whole fucking planet is made of crap water, and now soon to be dozens of shitty sea monsters who would want to eat him. The only way to communicate with anyone else was through shitty fucking telepathy which was stupid, and he was probably too far away from anyone to even do it right.
Is anyone else even fucking out there?!
Sorry in advance if you are stuck with this loon in the middle of the sea.
E: THE AURORA
He hears a scream and assumes it's you. With a roll of his eyes he turns to his companions. "Would you be quiet?"
There in a room with two skeletons, but he doesn't seem perturbed. Instead he's digging through someones belongings, throwing the useless crap like clothes etc to the side.
"It's just a couple of calcium husks."
victor nikiforov / yuri!!! on ice
[ brainstorming doesn't seem so hard. victor figures thinking up missions can't be all that different from thinking up skate routines. the spontaneity, the theme, the passion -- they share those things. probably. he's possibly just romanticizing the idea of missions but still! they'll be out of this room in no time.
he'd managed to procure a notepad and pen from somewhere and brought them along, reasoning that ideas might flow better if they write in addition to recording. so far he's written "1." on the first line and doodled a poorly-drawn dog in the margin.
things are clearly going well.
he's lays on one of the beds, flopped on his stomach while he stares at his empty paper. it turns out his talent for choreographing skate routines does not in any way extend to planning missions. ]
I don't know...
[ he sighs, a touch dramatically. ]
Do you have any ideas?
[ this might be the sixth time he's asked
but who's counting? ]
e.
[ victor doesn't know why he agreed to visit the aurora. he doesn't know how he wound up separated from the person who'd dragged him along, either.
but he did both of those things and now, as he makes his way carefully down a dim hallway, he's full of nothing but regret.
the occasional shrieks in the distance send chills down his spine and he swears there are muffled voices coming from somewhere -- voices that don't quite match the person he'd come here with. the skeletons don't help the mood much, though he feels more sorry for them than scared.
