A: There’s a Storm on the Horizon
A brainstorm. On advice about the ingenuity of multi person parties, and from admitted lack of understanding of many needs of organics, URSULA has selected you and a partner (or partners) to go to one of the observatories with food, beds, and recording devices to have a jam session for ideas about missions.
You are not to leave the room until you have some good ones. So get cracking! Start suggesting to one another what the base needs to do.
Or get horribly, horribly sidetracked and possibly a little crazy at being locked up together with the ocean staring at you. Judging.
B: The Abysmal Sea
You’re stranded.
One of the planet’s troublesome signal-interfering pulses has just made your communication devices 100% nonfunctional. No matter how you try to call URSULA for help, she isn’t able to respond. The database strapped to your wrist is just a useless chunk of metal now, leaving you without a useful library of knowledge to survive off. If you were driving any underwater vehicle prior to this point, it’s broken down. And unless you’re a mechanic, it’ll be pretty hard to get it jumpstarted again.
Don’t fret! The communication systems always come online eventually, so if you stay put, it’ll boot back up and give you directions straight back to base so you can finally get home. But can you really afford to stay put? The sunlight’s slowly streaming out of the sky, leaving the waters darker and darker with each passing second. Soon, you won’t be able to see five feet in front of you, and the only warning you’ll get of any approaching threat is through sound, if they even make any.
You have a few choices: take a daring risk and try swimming back to base, but on the off-chance you don’t remember the directions correctly from before you were cut off, you’re going to get even more lost, in the darkness of the night no less. Or, you could huddle in, with any friends if they were unfortunate enough to be with you, and start focusing on getting warm. Because spending the night out here in the vast oceans with the entire world against you is becoming a very, very real possibility.
C: Birdnip
The crew has become very friendly with the local population of birdogs, even going as far as moving a bunch of them to the base. Birdogs are pretty friendly creatures for the most part, and are some of the more tamable ones of the planet. That's why there is surely nothing that might go wrong with these arrangements!
Well. Except for the fact a new fauna that was found in a biome seems to have... well, really excite the birdogs. They're completely running amok, everyone from the kitchen to the swimming pool. URSULA would really appreciate it if you could help calm the poor creatures down before they end up hurting themselves or another crew member.
You probably shouldn't use that plant though.
D: Hunting Trip
The crew has been given a special mission on Mountain Island. While visiting, you were approached by Aurora survivor and fast-food worker Jenn, owner of the adorable tabby cat Glitter. She asks you to hunt a horrorsloth down for her. This particular horrorsloth has a scar across its face in the form of several cat marks which explains why Jenn wants it dead. It has a personal vendetta against Glitter and has already tried to kill her several times. Jenn has been able to heal the injuries so far but she’s worried that next time she won’t be so lucky.
So Jenn gives you anything you want from fellow survivor and Lead Programmer Naoko’s gun supplies and points you into the dangerous jungle forests where the Catkiller spends its time. Do you have what it takes to avoid poisonous tree pods and deadly Shrubbacks? Can you find your way through the dark and twisted woods? Or will you find yourselves hunted by the very creature you are trying to take out?
Do it for Glitter.
E: THE AURORA
Quiet except for the creaks and rumbles as the ship settles and shifts, the sound of Reapers screaming in the distance every so often, the Aurora is a creepy place to visit for a mission. The remains of those crew members not buried, and the belongings of many others, still litter the ship's halls. It might be nice to remove any skeletons you find.
Of course, their misfortune is your opportunity to catch up on some reading, browse whatever video games they left, get medical supplies and enjoy the comforts they no longer need.
But is it possible the Aurora is haunted? Surely not. Except sometimes you might hear voices from far away. It might just be the people you came on board with, unless they're with you. Or it might be a Cave Crawler knocking over some recording device. You're not too scared to check, right?
F: RAINY SEASON
When it rains, it pours. Rainy days tend to be the worst. Although you can go swimming in them, the intense storms of Iniidae stir up shallower waters making them murky and difficult to see through. And what if lightning hit? No one wants the first death to be lightning. Are you going to risk that? Probably. If you do, take care of yourself and bring a buddy!
But if you're the type to hole up in a storm, either by choice or because you were unlucky enough to be out in it, now is a good chance to get creative with your use of time! Maybe a game of charades will brighten up the rainy day? If you're on the base it might be extra crowded today so get to know your neighbors! If you're on an island, you could build a mud castle! Just don't go stircrazy.
Miles Edgeworth | Ace Attorney
[Oh heck yes, this is his kind of storm. It doesn't take long for Edgeworth to get the party started, organizer and pen in hand. He glances at everyone in the observatory, not at all fazed by the idea of being stuck with these people for quite a while.
At least they had something to do which wasn't socializing. This isn't socializing, this is business!!!]
First, we need to know which of the areas are least explored and which creatures are least studied. From there, we can figure out what our next step should be.
[The ocean can judge all it wants, it never bothered Edgeworth anyway.]
OPTION B: I CAN'T B-LIEVE THIS
[Great.
The last thing Edgeworth wants is to be lost in this vast sea and honestly he's hoping so hard that an earthquake doesn't happen while he's here and alone. He's not going to stay put, although he's not quite going to swim back to base either just yet. Knowing that he's working against time and daylight, he begins inspecting anything and everything that would jog his memory - a rock formation here, a particularly large colony of plants there, anything.
He's also on the lookout for any familiar faces (as familiar as they can get behind a pair of goggles and breathing gear), although he might be a little too alert and be kinda jumpy because look, he doesn't want to die and with more reason does he NOT want to die out in the open sea.]
OPTION E: E FOR EERIE
[Edgeworth doesn't believe in ghosts or monsters. He's seen his share of dead bodies in his work as a prosecutor so long-dead bodies of people don't really faze him either. While browsing some of the books left in the common room, he hears someone - no, he hears distant voices. Blinking, he turns around and finds - you!
Because it was probably you who said something, right? Right? (No.)]
Excuse me, did you say anything?
[AND DON'T SAY THE AURORA IS HAUNTED you don't believe that mumbo jumbo, do you?]
OPTION F: RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY
[Edgeworth will be avoiding the crowd, thanks. Follow him into the library where he'll curl up with some books and just read the storm away.
a.k.a. wildcard option
a.k.a. make him do charades, you know you want to]
E FOR EUGH
Creatures echoing through the water or down the halls keep her on her toes, but her heart rate doesn't skip or speed up. She shuffles nearer, though, when the one she was assigned to explore the area with in their little humble party speaks up. Hip jutted out slightly when she shifts weight to that side of her body, she settles a hand on the curve her waist. ]
No, but it could be some kind of creature or just as likely a recording. This place is pretty big so we should just keep on a lookout. [ Jill turns from him, her hand slipping down to her side as she takes a few steps away and shines a light to the nearest doorways. ] Don't worry. Haunted or not, it's all tangible. Might put up more of a fight, but I can handle it.
[ Somehow, she gets the feeling that she'll be handling most of the fighting, if there's any. ]
Ready to get a move on? Any path's as good as another, so you take the pick.
E for EYYYYY
It's a good thing he has a levelheaded woman as his companion in inspecting these rooms. He nods, touching the knife at his belt, his only form of defense. Which...he wasn't very good at.]
We should check the medical labs for supplies next.
[Focusing on the task at hand has taken his mind off the weird voices.]
Aye aye
...always the best place to start. [ She doesn't offer any information about why she'd think that, but her tone is clear and no indicator of lying in it. She borders authoritative, but it's more confidence than anything. Even though he seems to have a good head on his shoulders, it can't hurt to be certain enough that the other party won't question themselves. ] Any idea where that is? I wasn't given a map to work off of.
[ This isn't something with secret labs to her knowledge, so at least they might not have to look too hard. But this place is big enough to house a few hundred if not thousand people.
But then again, so is a mall. Follow the path, keep an open eye.
She has extra pockets and packs that other people don't, so it's clear that she must have arrived with them. Despite that, she has a bag or two on her to grab anything else. It's a pity that heavy things like machinery wouldn't be easy to transport. ]
We came from the entrance, so the best path is probably toward the sides, maybe toward the back. Could be wrong though, this entire place doesn't seem to operate on the same logic I do.
[ She offers a vague smile. It's a joke. ]
no subject
The joke briefly breaks his concentration, but he doesn't seem to mind and instead gives her a wry smile. She has a point. This world had constantly defied logic so at this point Edgeworth wouldn't be surprised if the rooms shifted around in these ruins, or if the same door opened to an entirely different area.]
Unfortunately. [He allows himself a chuckle.] But I feel optimistic that perhaps, even the most basic principles of logic still stand across different worlds.
no subject
Jill playfully nudges him with the very tip of her elbow as she walks past him, starting down that side like she'd suggested. Either way, they'd find the labs eventually and it was probably better to get their bearings of the location and have some idea where they were and where they were going if they needed to make a quick exit. ]
Ha, well, I guess that means two of us are hoping for that, huh? [ She has a hand on her side, ghosting over the holstered handgun there. ] If it operates on the logic I'm used to, though, the second I get comfortable something will come crawling out of a ventilation shaft...
no subject
I don't think I'll be comfortable until we leave this ruined vessel.
[Inwardly Edgeworth hopes that nothing will come crawling out of a ventilation shaft or any crevice around.]
no subject
(Jill would be hard-pressed to admit it, but she doesn't exactly have a lot of friends around these parts just yet.) ]
Fair enough. I know there have been other expeditions and there are definitely things we should look out for, but I don't think anyone would be coming back if it was too dangerous.
[ It's the best she can do to reassure him, but she has to be realistic. There are definitely dangers here and she is pretty sure there's something in the distance making a sound. Dragging, almost. Not quite footsteps; too faint to really place.
Jill pauses at each door they pass to glance in, shining a flashlight slowly from one side to the next. She cautiously steps into one since it appears to be some sort of cargo hold, filled with shelving unit and boxes strewn about. ]
no subject
[Edgeworth is alert, craning his neck to peer into each door as Jill shines her flashlight, taking out a notepad and a pencil he had found during their search - extremely handy, and easily stashed in a pocket of his suit so the pages wouldn't get wet. He is very quick when he scribbles notes, but stops when Jill slowly enters the next door they find.
Gingerly he falls in step behind her, his hands now free in case they found something neither of them wanted to find.]
This is a good room to investigate...but it also harbors many hiding places.
E FOR TRANSPARENT PEOPLE
No. [ He then proceeds to walk half through the wall in that direction to stick his head in the adjacent room and check. He does come back into the room Edgeworth had been occupying to reply, though. ] There is no one in there either.
[ For all of the weirdness, the Servant appears to be unshakably calm, if only deadpan. ]
E for ehhh there are no such things as ghosts
Perhaps it was a recording, or someone investigating above us.
[He shrugs off the voices, doing his best to remain calm and concentrate on their mission. This was no time to worry about what other people were saying around these parts or how clumsy they were in activating old equipment.
Being unshakably calm is a good thing.]
sanson can walk through walls hope you're cool with that
A recording seems more likely. But be on your guard for hostiles.
[ He has his sword in hammerspace, ready at an instant - but one can never be too careful. ]
I can cover you while you move. [ Assuming Edgeworth has a particular destination, that is. Sanson has been here a few times and thus doesn't have much he wants to check out. ]
He can roll with this...HOPEFULLY
[Edgeworth has a knife, but even he knows it may not always be enough. He glances this way and that in the common room before moving to another shelf with books and board games alike, peering in between the items for anything of interest.
However, what he unearths is a large crack in the wall from which a Cave Crawler decides to launch itself - straight toward his face. He yelps as he hurriedly sidesteps.]
Ack!
SNASON WILL HELP
Jump if you need to. These aren't too used to moving targets.
[ Hopefully he can dissuade the Crawler from attacking too much. Unneeded death is to be avoided. ]
no subject
He doesn't jump, but he backs away, cutting a zigzag path as he goes in the hopes that it would dissuade the creature. His hand remains on the hilt of his knife.]
no subject
Sanson still regards said pile with his cold gaze. ]
no subject
I hope it has had enough of searching for targets.
no subject
[ After a while he appears to relax, but only just. ]
Is there anything specific that you are looking for here?
no subject
[He lets his knife hand drop slowly to his side, raising his wrist slightly so he can easily shift back into a defensive position or a combat stance.
Well, as easily as someone inexperienced can.]
no subject
Items, or rooms?
[ So they have a direction to look towards. ]
B
[It absolutely is]
Ugh! Adrien!
no subject
Edgeworth instinctively paddles backward in surprise and yelps.]
What th - I-I'm not Adrien!
[YOU NEAR GAVE HIM A HEART ATTACK THERE, CHILD.]
no subject
I-- ah! Oh! I'm sorry! You startled me!
[She tries to wave her hands in apology and ends up splashing him more. Welp.]
no subject
[He splutters; some of that water splashed toward him ended up in his mouth.]
I could say the same for you!
