A: There’s a Storm on the Horizon
A brainstorm. On advice about the ingenuity of multi person parties, and from admitted lack of understanding of many needs of organics, URSULA has selected you and a partner (or partners) to go to one of the observatories with food, beds, and recording devices to have a jam session for ideas about missions.

You are not to leave the room until you have some good ones. So get cracking! Start suggesting to one another what the base needs to do.

Or get horribly, horribly sidetracked and possibly a little crazy at being locked up together with the ocean staring at you. Judging.

B: The Abysmal Sea
You’re stranded.

One of the planet’s troublesome signal-interfering pulses has just made your communication devices 100% nonfunctional. No matter how you try to call URSULA for help, she isn’t able to respond. The database strapped to your wrist is just a useless chunk of metal now, leaving you without a useful library of knowledge to survive off. If you were driving any underwater vehicle prior to this point, it’s broken down. And unless you’re a mechanic, it’ll be pretty hard to get it jumpstarted again.

Don’t fret! The communication systems always come online eventually, so if you stay put, it’ll boot back up and give you directions straight back to base so you can finally get home. But can you really afford to stay put? The sunlight’s slowly streaming out of the sky, leaving the waters darker and darker with each passing second. Soon, you won’t be able to see five feet in front of you, and the only warning you’ll get of any approaching threat is through sound, if they even make any.

You have a few choices: take a daring risk and try swimming back to base, but on the off-chance you don’t remember the directions correctly from before you were cut off, you’re going to get even more lost, in the darkness of the night no less. Or, you could huddle in, with any friends if they were unfortunate enough to be with you, and start focusing on getting warm. Because spending the night out here in the vast oceans with the entire world against you is becoming a very, very real possibility.

C: Birdnip
The crew has become very friendly with the local population of birdogs, even going as far as moving a bunch of them to the base. Birdogs are pretty friendly creatures for the most part, and are some of the more tamable ones of the planet. That's why there is surely nothing that might go wrong with these arrangements!

Well. Except for the fact a new fauna that was found in a biome seems to have... well, really excite the birdogs. They're completely running amok, everyone from the kitchen to the swimming pool. URSULA would really appreciate it if you could help calm the poor creatures down before they end up hurting themselves or another crew member.

You probably shouldn't use that plant though.

D: Hunting Trip
The crew has been given a special mission on Mountain Island. While visiting, you were approached by Aurora survivor and fast-food worker Jenn, owner of the adorable tabby cat Glitter. She asks you to hunt a horrorsloth down for her. This particular horrorsloth has a scar across its face in the form of several cat marks which explains why Jenn wants it dead. It has a personal vendetta against Glitter and has already tried to kill her several times. Jenn has been able to heal the injuries so far but she’s worried that next time she won’t be so lucky.

So Jenn gives you anything you want from fellow survivor and Lead Programmer Naoko’s gun supplies and points you into the dangerous jungle forests where the Catkiller spends its time. Do you have what it takes to avoid poisonous tree pods and deadly Shrubbacks? Can you find your way through the dark and twisted woods? Or will you find yourselves hunted by the very creature you are trying to take out?

Do it for Glitter.

E: THE AURORA
Quiet except for the creaks and rumbles as the ship settles and shifts, the sound of Reapers screaming in the distance every so often, the Aurora is a creepy place to visit for a mission. The remains of those crew members not buried, and the belongings of many others, still litter the ship's halls. It might be nice to remove any skeletons you find.

Of course, their misfortune is your opportunity to catch up on some reading, browse whatever video games they left, get medical supplies and enjoy the comforts they no longer need.

But is it possible the Aurora is haunted? Surely not. Except sometimes you might hear voices from far away. It might just be the people you came on board with, unless they're with you. Or it might be a Cave Crawler knocking over some recording device. You're not too scared to check, right?

F: RAINY SEASON
When it rains, it pours. Rainy days tend to be the worst. Although you can go swimming in them, the intense storms of Iniidae stir up shallower waters making them murky and difficult to see through. And what if lightning hit? No one wants the first death to be lightning. Are you going to risk that? Probably. If you do, take care of yourself and bring a buddy!

But if you're the type to hole up in a storm, either by choice or because you were unlucky enough to be out in it, now is a good chance to get creative with your use of time! Maybe a game of charades will brighten up the rainy day? If you're on the base it might be extra crowded today so get to know your neighbors! If you're on an island, you could build a mud castle! Just don't go stircrazy.

It takes practice, but it gets easier. Well - the game gets harder, but as you get used to them... You know what I mean...

There are lots of different games, too. Here, this one's more peaceful. [ He taps at his phone a bit to pull up a different game. It's... Farmville but with cats. ]

[riflew]

Ah! They're cats!

[ izetta smiles brightly at the screen. video games seem amazing? ]

You must be really good at them.

[puddinghair]

I just have a lot of practice. They're fun.

And... Good for passing the time. [ because let's face it, they're probably stranded until someone helps them, here. ]

[riflew]

[ especially considering that both of them have seemingly abandoned the search for the manual.

it probably wouldn't have been much help to them anyway? ]

What's your favorite one? Do you have it with you? Can you only play games on this device?

[puddinghair]

I don't know if I have a favorite - and I'd have more with me if I had my backpack. [ it's got his DS and P0P, but he didn't think to bring them. ]

This is a cell phone, so if we had the right signal it could also make phone calls, send text messages and email, or stream music and movies. Or download more games. It's got a camera, journal, mp3-player, GPS... [ ... he trails off because he realizes - how much of that means anything to her? ] Um... But right now it's just good for offline stuff.

[riflew]

[ yeah most of that is going right... over her head? but she does recognize some of those words? ]

This is a camera?!

[ izetta tilts the phone, trying to figure out what part is the camera? or is it the entire thing... maybe it is best if she just accepted it. ]

[puddinghair]

Yeah. I can show you.

[ he holds out his hand for his phone back. ]

[riflew]

[ izetta hands the phone back, while trying to be subtle regarding how curious she is about this?? she is doing a very bad job of it, given how much she's just. eagerly staring at kenma. ]

[puddinghair]

[ he closes out of the games and pulls up the camera, holding the screen so she can watch, and going slower than he usually would. once it's up, he turns the lens towards her. ]

Say cheese. [ ... do they say that for cameras where she's from--you know what he's tired of questioning this stuff. ]

[riflew]

O-oh... um... cheese!

[ izetta smiles?? for what is presumably the camera?? she is waiting for a giant flash to go off or something to tell her when to stop smiling.... ]

[puddinghair]

[ it makes a loud shutter sound but pfft who uses flash

kenma turns his phone around to show her the picture. very cute! ]

There are filters, too.

[riflew]

[ she blinks in surprise at the lack of a bright light blinding her... but then smiles again at the picture. it is, in fact, cute? ]

What's a filter?

[puddinghair]

Like, instagram. [ he's officially given up. this is just a crash course in modern cell phone tech, now. he opens up instagram and flicks through a couple of filter previews. ]

There's also snapchat filters. It has things like dog ears and stuff that apply while you take the picture.

[riflew]

[ it's a good thing he immediately started showing her because the next thing that was gonna come out of her mouth was "what's instagram" so. bless you kenma for catching on? ]

Woooow! All of this is so amazing. I can't believe technology has advanced to this point...

[ it's not the futuristic submarine that they are currently in that's impressive. it is snapchat's dog ears filters. ]

[puddinghair]

I guess I kind of take it for granted. [ maybe a little less-so now that he's been without service, but still. ]

I can't really imagine life without this stuff.

[riflew]

I kind of know what you mean! There are a couple of things I can't imagine living without.

[ those things are actually like, a very specific person. who is not here? izetta is miserable, honestly. ]

It seems really convenient to have one tiny thing have so many different uses.

[puddinghair]

[ he knows the feeling tbh ]

The down-side is that I'm used to looking up how to do stuff whenever I need it. So without google... [ he gestures vaguely at their situation ]

What - um. [ he doesn't want to be intrusive but also doesn't want to dominate conversation. why is socializing so difficult!!! ] What sort of stuff do you miss?

[riflew]

izetta manages to not ask that, at least, and instead focuses on the question he asks. she also looks embarrassed at it, for whatever reason. ]

Oh, well. I miss... the scenery? Of the country I was in. It was really pretty! Not that it's not pretty here, but I just. Really liked Eylstadt? Which... is the country that...

[puddinghair]

... So you're homesick.

[ why does she look embarrassed, he doesn't understand ]

[riflew]

Is that what it is?

[ she's never really had a "home" to feel homesick about, so the realization is a little shocking? ]

[puddinghair]

[ okay that time she's not just from a different time, not recognizing that is just her being weird! he's pretty sure! ]

Probably. I am, too.

[riflew]

That's really great. [ izetta that is not the appropriate reaction to have when someone calls you out on being homesick?

it still doesn't explain why she was so embarrassed though. ]

[ what a weirdo??? but she seems nice so he tries not to judge. he doesn't think being homesick is anything to be shy about. or confused about. ]

A little. I miss my friends.

[riflew]

So you're here by yourself, too?

[ she frowns, glancing away from kenma for a moment before turning her attention back towards him. ]

I'll be your friend! Um, if that's alright! It's fine if it isn't, but well, if you need a friend here... I'll definitely be it!

[puddinghair]

Yeah.

[ ... it's not so much the 'verbally asking to be friends' part that's got him looking apprehensive - more like he doesn't really know how... to be a normal friend... to people... but oh well. ]
