A: There’s a Storm on the Horizon
A brainstorm. On advice about the ingenuity of multi person parties, and from admitted lack of understanding of many needs of organics, URSULA has selected you and a partner (or partners) to go to one of the observatories with food, beds, and recording devices to have a jam session for ideas about missions.

You are not to leave the room until you have some good ones. So get cracking! Start suggesting to one another what the base needs to do.

Or get horribly, horribly sidetracked and possibly a little crazy at being locked up together with the ocean staring at you. Judging.

B: The Abysmal Sea
You’re stranded.

One of the planet’s troublesome signal-interfering pulses has just made your communication devices 100% nonfunctional. No matter how you try to call URSULA for help, she isn’t able to respond. The database strapped to your wrist is just a useless chunk of metal now, leaving you without a useful library of knowledge to survive off. If you were driving any underwater vehicle prior to this point, it’s broken down. And unless you’re a mechanic, it’ll be pretty hard to get it jumpstarted again.

Don’t fret! The communication systems always come online eventually, so if you stay put, it’ll boot back up and give you directions straight back to base so you can finally get home. But can you really afford to stay put? The sunlight’s slowly streaming out of the sky, leaving the waters darker and darker with each passing second. Soon, you won’t be able to see five feet in front of you, and the only warning you’ll get of any approaching threat is through sound, if they even make any.

You have a few choices: take a daring risk and try swimming back to base, but on the off-chance you don’t remember the directions correctly from before you were cut off, you’re going to get even more lost, in the darkness of the night no less. Or, you could huddle in, with any friends if they were unfortunate enough to be with you, and start focusing on getting warm. Because spending the night out here in the vast oceans with the entire world against you is becoming a very, very real possibility.

C: Test Drive Test Dives
The Robotics section of the laboratory needs your help! Whether you were a poor sap who got dragged into it or love working on robots, this is your time to shine!

A few suits need testing to get the kinks out of them. And you know, figure out how they work in general. So be a dear and get in one so the others can watch you flail around and discover how it works.

If you're not into being a crash test dummy, you can help do repair work, analyze blueprints of various underwater vehicles, bring in scrap metal to work with or maybe just try painting the Seamoth neon pink.

D: Camping Trip
Floater Island is the only real land around so even if it's a longer trip, it's nice to volunteer for an overnight mission there sometimes. Who doesn't want to camp out under the stars when you've been living under the sea this whole time? Attempt to make s'mores out of plants and that chocolate bar you have left! Play with Birdogs! Go for a swim in the lake! Try very hard to get some sort of emotional response from a Light Frog!

Well, sure, you're here on a mission but it's okay to goof off and enjoy yourselves with some campfire stories and freshly cooked Chomper kebobs sometimes. Just grab a few samples from the abandoned farm at least so it looks like you actually worked.

E: THE AURORA
Quiet except for the creaks and rumbles as the ship settles and shifts, the sound of Reapers screaming in the distance every so often, the Aurora is a creepy place to visit for a mission. The remains of those crew members not buried, and the belongings of many others, still litter the ship's halls. It might be nice to remove any skeletons you find.

Of course, their misfortune is your opportunity to catch up on some reading, browse whatever video games they left, get medical supplies and enjoy the comforts they no longer need.

But is it possible the Aurora is haunted? Surely not. Except sometimes you might hear voices from far away. It might just be the people you came on board with, unless they're with you. Or it might be a Cave Crawler knocking over some recording device. You're not too scared to check, right?

F: Farmville
Time to tend to the crops! That's right, the underwater farm needs your help. Some trees and plants rest on the seabed under protective covers that allow them to grow their leaves and fruits while the roots firmly keep them in the sand. Harvest some apples, more apples, oranges, strawberries and other delicious produce that sounds much, much better than a regular diet of fish.

And once you've helped get a basket full of crops for the base, it's time to cook them! But what are you going to make? Apple stuffed fish? Orange stuffed fish? Nah, get creative with what you have! Everyone is counting on you for dinner!

Pound it? [ there's a joke there, adaline is sure, but she'll focus on cooking for now. they have to serve soon and she doesn't like the idea of not complete a task given to her, incompatible or not.

because while she could just present the apple as it is, just as he had pointed out, she knows there must be an expectation from the others that something had to be done with the vegetables and fruits for the meal. an apple a day keeps the doctor away but surely something could be done with the apple. ]

I was thinking of making salads but apple juice could work. You'll need to do all of the tasting though.

[ a salad would probably be much easier and has less chance for failure. he's not really one to change his mind though, so karkat just nods his head. ]

Why? You're not a fan of what is apparently the greatest fruit in all of paradox space?

[ he says it in the tone of someone who does not actually believe this but has been told it a million times. ]

[ no. adaline is committed to this task of theirs now, lack of cooking experience or knowledge be damned.

they are going down this apple juice path and she will do her best to not bat an eye. hopefully eveline can be of help when she has enough strength to make her presence known again. she was the one who had a better hand in these sort of things between the two sister.

at his question, she looks up from her scrutiny of the apple to shake her head. ] I can't eat at all. I'm a cyborg and have no use of consuming organic food.

[alienates]

Wait, seriously? You don't look like a robot at all.

[ aradia and all of equius' other robot experiments were very obviously metal on the outside. this is the first time karkat has seen one who actually passes fully as human.

dirk would probably go nuts if he met her. ]

Fine I'll do the whole taste test thing but just know that I'm not exactly human so my tastes might be different from everyone else's?

[ at the speculation, adaline doesn't seem faze at all. a hard pill for some to swallow, she knows. from her understanding even where she's from people like her are rare in certain parts of the world.

she twists her neck at almost an unnatural angle so the back of her head faced him while she lifts up her hair to show the installed ports on the back of her neck. ] They're useless in our current environment- [ / for now. / how optimistic, eveline. ] -but they're proof enough for you, yes?

[ her fingers twitch. seemingly sporadically, really letting adaline know her sister can help her now.

guided, she reaches for a knife nearby and begins to core it efficiently. she gives him a 'smile' as she does so or what passes as a smile for adaline. ] I'm sure we'll make due if it tastes too sweet or too strong. The wonderful magic of sweeteners after all.

Now… When you said I don't look like a 'robot', does that mean where you're from cybernetics and roboticisation hasn't reached the point of full conversion?

[ well that neck thing was definitely not creepy at all. he tries not to wince. ]

I mean, we have a lot of robots but they don't look as lifelike? My friend Aradia had a robotic body for a while [ because she died but that's too complicated of a story ] so I guess you could say she was like a cyborg or whatever? But she still looked all metal-y.

[ karkat isn't really one of the tech experts of the group so honestly he has no idea how all of that works. ]

[ she cocks her head to the side to show she's listening to him, intrigued by what he's telling her. ] It's been some time since I heard anything so… anachronistic. [ and there is eveline's influence once again, encouraging her to use a gentle word than the one she had intended to use.

that and the inquisitiveness she feels in wanting to know more about this subject. i'm curious is all. / i know you are. ] If any of your friends like Aradia are here, perhaps we could meet to chat more about that? I've always been curious to know more about robotics from a different perspective.

But then again- If they were here, I have a feeling you would be with them than be with me on cooking duty.

Aradia isn't here but Dirk is. He's really into robotics and shit and he's always going to that obviously haunted ship to get more parts for whatever the fuck he builds.

[ as for why he isn't hanging out with him...karkat would rather not interrupt his bonding time with his family. it's a little awkward. ]

I'm pretty sure he'd be all over meeting you.

Obviously haunted? Well- I can agree with that if we're talking about the awful smell it seems to exude. [ that's what happens when you leave bodies and stagnant water in a decaying ship, she supposes.

adaline sounds almost amused as eveline's guidance helps her core enough apples to make the juice. (she thinks.) ] I take it that you're not fond of the idea of going into the ship for scouting or salvaging then. Or would it be presumptuous of me to assume that?

[ karkat watches her work, somewhat confused since adaline had no idea what to do with the apple just a few minutes ago. she seems to be doing fine now though? at least, he thinks she's doing fine. karkat has no idea how to make apple juice so it's not like he knows if this is actually right or not. ]

I mean, I'll go. I just believe there are better things for us to sink our time into while down in this hell ocean. Like absolutely anything else because what the fuck why doesn't anyone else think it's creepy?

[ it's certainly strange. even stranger is how she herself starts to look a little doubtful of the process. maybe because it has something to do with adding all the apple slices into a pot of some sort, adding some water into it before turning the temperature to boil.

… she's. she's just going to trust her sister on this. whatever 'this' is supposed to be as long as it gives them the apple juice they need.

and while eveline isn't speaking, adaline can feel her nudge to talk more with karkat. alright, eveline, alright. ] I can't deny that. Anything else is better compared to going in a ship filled with crabs and corpses and possible corporal spirits.

[ she's being sarcastic. can you tell? ] But to be serious: I suppose the others are doing it because they feel like they have to. Who knows how long we'll be here until… whatever allows us home.
