Applications are OPEN
A: There’s a Storm on the Horizon
A brainstorm. On advice about the ingenuity of multi person parties, and from admitted lack of understanding of many needs of organics, URSULA has selected you and a partner (or partners) to go to one of the observatories with food, beds, and recording devices to have a jam session for ideas about missions.
You are not to leave the room until you have some good ones. So get cracking! Start suggesting to one another what the base needs to do.
Or get horribly, horribly sidetracked and possibly a little crazy at being locked up together with the ocean staring at you. Judging.
B: The Abysmal Sea
You’re stranded.
One of the planet’s troublesome signal-interfering pulses has just made your communication devices 100% nonfunctional. No matter how you try to call URSULA for help, she isn’t able to respond. The database strapped to your wrist is just a useless chunk of metal now, leaving you without a useful library of knowledge to survive off. If you were driving any underwater vehicle prior to this point, it’s broken down. And unless you’re a mechanic, it’ll be pretty hard to get it jumpstarted again.
Don’t fret! The communication systems always come online eventually, so if you stay put, it’ll boot back up and give you directions straight back to base so you can finally get home. But can you really afford to stay put? The sunlight’s slowly streaming out of the sky, leaving the waters darker and darker with each passing second. Soon, you won’t be able to see five feet in front of you, and the only warning you’ll get of any approaching threat is through sound, if they even make any.
You have a few choices: take a daring risk and try swimming back to base, but on the off-chance you don’t remember the directions correctly from before you were cut off, you’re going to get even more lost, in the darkness of the night no less. Or, you could huddle in, with any friends if they were unfortunate enough to be with you, and start focusing on getting warm. Because spending the night out here in the vast oceans with the entire world against you is becoming a very, very real possibility.
C: Birdnip
The crew has become very friendly with the local population of birdogs, even going as far as moving a bunch of them to the base. Birdogs are pretty friendly creatures for the most part, and are some of the more tamable ones of the planet. That's why there is surely nothing that might go wrong with these arrangements!
Well. Except for the fact a new fauna that was found in a biome seems to have... well, really excite the birdogs. They're completely running amok, everyone from the kitchen to the swimming pool. URSULA would really appreciate it if you could help calm the poor creatures down before they end up hurting themselves or another crew member.
You probably shouldn't use that plant though.
D: Hunting Trip
The crew has been given a special mission on Mountain Island. While visiting, you were approached by Aurora survivor and fast-food worker Jenn, owner of the adorable tabby cat Glitter. She asks you to hunt a horrorsloth down for her. This particular horrorsloth has a scar across its face in the form of several cat marks which explains why Jenn wants it dead. It has a personal vendetta against Glitter and has already tried to kill her several times. Jenn has been able to heal the injuries so far but she’s worried that next time she won’t be so lucky.
So Jenn gives you anything you want from fellow survivor and Lead Programmer Naoko’s gun supplies and points you into the dangerous jungle forests where the Catkiller spends its time. Do you have what it takes to avoid poisonous tree pods and deadly Shrubbacks? Can you find your way through the dark and twisted woods? Or will you find yourselves hunted by the very creature you are trying to take out?
Do it for Glitter.
E: THE AURORA
Quiet except for the creaks and rumbles as the ship settles and shifts, the sound of Reapers screaming in the distance every so often, the Aurora is a creepy place to visit for a mission. The remains of those crew members not buried, and the belongings of many others, still litter the ship's halls. It might be nice to remove any skeletons you find.
Of course, their misfortune is your opportunity to catch up on some reading, browse whatever video games they left, get medical supplies and enjoy the comforts they no longer need.
But is it possible the Aurora is haunted? Surely not. Except sometimes you might hear voices from far away. It might just be the people you came on board with, unless they're with you. Or it might be a Cave Crawler knocking over some recording device. You're not too scared to check, right?
F: RAINY SEASON
When it rains, it pours. Rainy days tend to be the worst. Although you can go swimming in them, the intense storms of Iniidae stir up shallower waters making them murky and difficult to see through. And what if lightning hit? No one wants the first death to be lightning. Are you going to risk that? Probably. If you do, take care of yourself and bring a buddy!
But if you're the type to hole up in a storm, either by choice or because you were unlucky enough to be out in it, now is a good chance to get creative with your use of time! Maybe a game of charades will brighten up the rainy day? If you're on the base it might be extra crowded today so get to know your neighbors! If you're on an island, you could build a mud castle! Just don't go stircrazy.
G: BUILD-A-BASE
With all the work terraforming a base island complete, now all the crew has to work on is creating a second base on the island. Construction has already started, but you are completely free to join in to help.
Do you plan on collecting materials to use to build the building? Or maybe you have suggestions for what types of rooms should go inside the base? Perhaps you just want to pass around snacks to all the people who are actually doing work. Whatever reason it is, you're definitely welcomed to hang around!
Please don't eat all the snacks and just leave though. That is a bit rude.

[Yuna is always sort of obnoxiously peppy and optimistic, but she is, for all intents and purposes, a normal fourteen-year-old girl. Reasonable people might find it weird that even now, she's all warm reassurance and bright energy. Her smile crinkles her eyes under her goggles.]
Even if it takes us a while to get online again, they'll definitely come back for us soon. [She looks up towards the surface, canting her head a little in curiosity as she takes note of how close they are to nightfall, then turns back to her companion, and the grin under her breathing apparatus can be seen in her eyes and heard in her voice.] Unless we get there first! I bet they'll be so surprised if we show up before they find us, like, whoa!
e.
[Though she spends trips to the Aurora uncharacteristically quiet and stiff, a severe contrast to the girl whose energy otherwise always remains inhumanly high, Yuna's always the first to volunteer to join someone else. She cried until she nearly vomited the first time she stumbled across a corpse, but even so, she's surprisingly capable.
Most don't know it, and she'd like it to stay that way, but she has her powers here. If something goes wrong, she's sure transforming will be more than enough to fend off any danger.
Any sharp sound or distant shifting makes Yuna step closer to her companion. It could be mistaken for a gesture of fright easily enough, but there's something in how her weight is shifted, how her hand goes for one of her pockets, the determination in her face that makes the way she's poised seem protective.
...Which might be weird given that she's fourteen and five foot nothing if you aren't already aware that she's a magical girl granted her power by God, but, like. Y'know.]
g.
[Yuna isn't going to even pretend she knows anything at all about construction, but she's good at odd jobs and busywork—hence, the sight of everyone's favorite overexuberant tiny pink teen running back and forth across the construction site to get materials where they have to be. She's...actually really strong? Though there's half a moment where it seems like she might be struggling with some metal building material she's trying to lift, she manages to smoothly heft it into her arms, and she grins, sprinting across the construction site to get that where they ought to be with a triumphant yell of—] This is what youth is foooorrr!
[okay well she's having a great time apparently]
wildcard.
[WHATEVER'S CLEVER MY DUDES]
e
But when a noise starts, she realizes that she isn't the only one who is protective. It's what she noticed when Yuna first volunteered, but now in her stance. It's protective. She looks like she is ready to be a Hero.]
The Cave Crawlers can be really vicious here, but usually there isn't anything too dangerous. It would be hard for us if they swarm.
g
at some point she just started watching yuna run around though. that tiny child sure is really into it. hajime finally approaches her, holding some lemonade in a cup. ]
Thirsty? You're zooming all over the place!

Velvet Crowe | Tales of Berseria
[It's bad enough that Velvet really isn't used to this technology, it's even worse when it just stops working. She pokes and jabs at the thing on her wrist angrily for awhile before making a noise of frustration.]
Completely useless.
[She looks around, observing the setting sun and weighing her options. She doesn't doubt her ability to survive, but trying to make a swim for it is vaguely tempting. Maybe someone will have a better idea or try to talk her out of it?]
{G.}
[At least she has some experience with setting up a base, even if the situation is different. Building a base isn't the same as just claiming one, after all. Still, after observing for awhile and helping out here or there, she'll make an offhand suggestion of sorts.]
So, I hear tunnels can be pretty important in these things.
{Wildcard}
[if you have another idea hit me up, I'm flexible.]
g
[Dirk is entirely and immediately ready for Secret Tunnels. He has in fact built one between the base and the underwater farm, entirely for a brother who never uses it, but hey. You can't blame an overprotective sibling for trying.]

A thread pulls her forward, to one spot. In the doorway between hall and observatory, she stops and sees a girl. Zelda's hands clasp in front of her and she watches. She sees how she interacts with the birds. She calms them, and seems to truly like them.
The blood stirs differently in her. She is a successor to the Goddess's blood, and Zelda knows that. But she is her own person.]
Hello.
[She does not know how to introduce herself to one who carries her blood, her legacy, her burden. She wishes sometimes that she could let her memories of Hylia guide her with perfect wisdom, instead of this imperfect understanding that she walks in.]

mordred | fate/ | voicetesting be gentle...
[ Having been warned about the dangers of the forest, Mordred has a simple plan for dealing with them: just slice the shit out of anything in her way. It's not particularly subtle, but she's itching for a fight — if the horrorsloth (or anything else) comes to her, so much the better. ]
What a drag... [ She swings her sword again, hacking away at some more branches. There's a noticeable path carved out in her wake that anyone could easily follow, not to mention— ] God, just come out already! Are you a horrorsloth or a cowardsloth?
[ —some quite loud yelling. Bellowing, really. Hope nobody smarter was trying to stay hidden. ]
e. they didn't have comic books in medieval britain
[ Mordred's used to creepy. She doesn't like it, but between her armour and her sword, she's pretty confident she can take anything on. Too confident, maybe. Seemingly unbothered by the creaking and the distant screams (but secretly far more alert than she lets on), she searches boredly through the supplies, or as she calls it— ]
Junk, junk... what a load of crap. [ She scowls beneath her helmet. ] Isn't there anything useful here?
[ Alternatively: a few minutes later, passers-by may notice a fully armoured knight sitting in one of the rooms, apparently completely enthralled by a comic book. Look, she's still a teenager. ]
d
[ Nonon doesn't care that much about hunting down a horrorsloth, but she is here to see if she can't find some info from Naoko and co., so she's here for the entertainment, but Mordred is being so inefficient.

kanna kamui | kobayashi-san
[So, here's the thing. You're stranded away from base with no hope in sight. It's dark. It's cold. Anything could be looming out there, waiting for a moment of weakness before it can pounce on you for a quick meal.
And now the world has apparently decided that life just isn't hard enough.
Because there's now a dragon just ahead of you. On the one hand, its white plumage, beautiful blue eyes sparkling like little blue jewels, and the soft white glow surrounding its entire body that pierces through the dark is really quite beautiful.
On the other hand it's watching you suspiciously, without saying anything. Its body language, if you're a stranger, also suggests it's on guard at the moment.
What will you do?]

ben tennyson | ben 10
[ ben can be found in one of the base common rooms, staring very intently at a flock of birdogs scurrying about. he seems to be concentrating really hard? maybe he's trying to think of some way to get them to calm down. he is a hero, after all, so it is his duty to help these poor creatures. ]
I guess you can say that their eggs have been... scrambled. Ha! Wait, hm, no, that one may be too weak.
[ or he's just thinking of witty one liners for the situation. ]
g
[ okay so maybe NOW he's gonna actually be helpful. this time, you can spot ben near the construction. he's leaning against a pile of metal, clearly about to start doing some heavy lifting to join the work effort.
except then he just kind of... starts taking selfies instead? if you check out your instaclam feed, you may spot the selfies with captions like A HERO'S JOB IS NEVER DONE #BENDOESITAGAIN #IWOKEUPLIKETHIS
no one said he knew how to spend his time wisely. ]

Kazuhira Miller | Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
[Kazuhira Miller has spent the last year or so either living on beaches, on a platform in the middle of the ocean, and was born on a city by the sea on an island nation. That is nothing compared with what he's facing now, what with a whole planet of ocean around him. He's lucky he's not really claustrophobic, but that doesn't mean he's not chomping at the bit for some reliable form of communication.]
Come in. Anybody. [Again, no sign of response. Not even a sign the messages is going out.]
[He thumps his fist angrily against the wall of the submarine before turning to descend down one of the hallways.] How many of those water vines do we have or are we going to have to go get some more before they get us? [Because it is really, really dark out there. And he's not sure how long it'll take them to find out what's gone wrong.]
C: BIRDNIP
[Kaz had vaguely been wondering if a Birddog could be trained as some sort of work animal. Maybe locating food on islands? As a guard animal watching from land? What could it do that was of use... Besides be cute. Nuke had been a wonderful mascot on motherbase, so, why not these guys? There was a lot to be said about morale bolsters.]
[Except now they're about to trash the place, and he's chasing after one with arms outstretched trying to keep it from trampling into and potentially damaging what he assumes is a valuable fruit tree (he's still getting used to the place but last he checked he didn't want to end up with extraplanetary skurvy).]
What the hell is up with these guys? They were fine earlier. [Miller says as he manages to get a good grip around its midsection.]

Link | Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
[ Well, he's certainly confused as to why he's here, now, of all times. While Link definitely has anxiety on the brain, the Knight doesn't show it. There's a lot at stake, and it's very obvious that this place is not at all part of Hyrule, but he can only hope this is yet another trial or obstacle towards the greater goal. Anxiety would likely make the birddogs uncomfortable or testy, but Link's natural state of aloofness and calm has quite a few of them flocking for him. He has a natural gift with animals, what can he say? ]
H'oh, woah now--
[ He speaks with amusement in his tone, smiling despite the worry he feels for his unfinished duties. In fact, he smiles for the strange little creatures. And he begins to mumble quietly to himself if it's more appropriate to coo at them or bark. It's a quiet mumble, but you can hear it if you approach. ]
G
Hnnk--!!
[ Link isn't the most talkative, but he sure is vocal when he begins the heavy lifting of brick and large slabs. For someone as thin and short as him, he's definitely got some good upper body strength to help build. He's able to get lost in helping, to not focus too much on what's plaguing his mind. Not that there's much. ]
[ He still hardly remembers anything. Link can count on one hand how many memories he'd picked up back in Hyrule. And now he's stuck here. Does that mean he'll stagnate here? That nothing will come back while time moves on without him? 100 years should have been enough. ]
Wide load!!!! Beep beep!

Hiccup | How to Train Your Dragon
[This was a little awkward. Hiccup, being called in for a brainstorming session, even though he had barely been there a day. He's still trying to wrap his mind around all this, and get used to his body suit. For the brainstorming session, he chooses to wear his Berk gear. Heavy leather, buckles, and straps.
He is one of the last people to enter the room, with a small notebook he managed to grab, and a pencil. When the door closes behind him, he flinches, hearing it lock behind him. Swallowing thickly, he steps into the room and plops down awkwardly into a chair. With his attire, he feels a little out of place with everything looking rather futuristic compared to him.
Green eyes glance across the room and he offers a bashful laugh, clearing his throat.]
So. Ah, just as a heads up. [He lifts his hand.] I just kinda. Got here yesterday. Hope that doesn't put a damper on things.
D.
Keep an eye out, Toothless. Who knows what this... Horrorsloth looks like exactly.
[The young viking looks back at his companion, who walks behind him on all fours in the forest. A rather healthy sized dragon with what looks to be a leather saddle on it's back, and mismatched tail fins. One black and one red with a white marking on it. The dragon walks up beside Hiccup, nudging his large head against his side with a soft gurgle.]
Hey now, no need to be scared bud. I know this isn't Berk, but think of it like an adventure! [Hiccup tries to brighten the mood of his dragon, pumping his fist in the air.] It's like we're looking for new dragons all over again! ...Oooonly it's a sloth. More of a mammal-- you get the idea.
[Toothless stares after Hiccup with a small scowl before his ear twitches at rustling bushes nearby. The dragon turns his attention towards it, pupils constricted into thin slits, mouth glowing a faint blue color. Hiccup inhales sharply and looks towards the source of the noise, reaching for his side for his knife with shaking fingertips. Green eyes narrow as he takes in a deep breath, trying to keep himself calm.]
C-Come out! Show yourself!
[Dragons, he could handle. No problem. Alien monsters from a different planet? Not so much. Then again, who was to say it was the horrorsloth to begin with?]
a
[ dave doesn't have list-making tools himself; he's already sprawled in a chair, legs stretched out in front of him and crossed at the ankle while his arms are crossed over his chest. he does in fact look kin of Futuristic, if you count jeans and a random t-shirt and sunglasses as futuristic.
he also looks really calm and easygoing, though. ]
